Automated insurance verification for Oryx
Ardent works with Oryx. It reads upcoming appointments and each patient’s insurance on file, verifies benefits with the payer, portal first, a benefits fax or 270/271 where that is how the payer answers, and a phone call for anything still open, then fills your practice’s own breakdown form and writes the completed work back into Oryx before the visit.
- Your schedule and the insurance on file, read from Oryx.
- Every payer channel: portals, clearinghouses, faxbacks and AI phone calls, every value with its source.
- Your own breakdown form, in your notation, written back to Oryx with notes where your team reads them.
- Exceptions, with the reason, in one 7:00 AM email to the front desk.
The system
About Oryx
Oryx is a cloud dental practice management system on Google Cloud, used by about 2,000 practices and more than 15,000 clinicians, from solo and startup offices to specialty and multi-location groups, in the United States and Canada (Oryx). In June 2026 the Academy of General Dentistry announced a partnership with Oryx (AGD).
How it works
How does Ardent work with Oryx?
Ardent watches the schedule from days ahead and picks up new appointments and changes on its own. For each patient it works the payer’s playbook, fills your breakdown form and writes it back to Oryx, so the front desk opens the chart to a finished breakdown instead of a portal login.
- Read. Upcoming appointments, patient details and the insurance on file, from Oryx.
- Verify. The payer’s portal first, a benefits fax or 270/271 where that is the payer’s channel, then a recorded call for what is still open.
- Fill. Your breakdown form, blank by blank, in your notation; a blank no one stated stays blank.
- Write back. The completed breakdown with the patient’s record in Oryx, and notes in the fields your team uses.
Setup
How the connection works
Oryx is a cloud system, so there is no server in your office to install anything on. Oryx does not publish an open API; it works with connected products through its partner program (Oryx). The connection for your office is scoped on the demo call and set up, with your team, before the supervised first run.
- Connect. The Oryx connection for your office, set up with your team.
- Share payer logins. Your payer portal credentials, used only for the call that needs them.
- Choose the sheet. Your breakdown form is measured once and filled in your notation.
- Switch on. A supervised first run, then unattended verification, filing and the 7:00 AM email, one at a time.
In Oryx
Does Oryx store documents such as a benefits breakdown?
Yes. Oryx converts an office’s X-rays, radiographs and documents into Oryx when it goes live (Oryx), so patient documents live alongside the chart. Ardent’s completed breakdown is a PDF in your own form’s layout, written back so it sits with the patient’s record, and notes go to the fields your team already reads.
